Eldercare Services of Alachua County is dedicated to being an advocate for the elderly in the community and to providing services to enrich the quality of life for seniors.

What YOU can do to help: Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

Meals on Wheels Program: Deliver lunch to seniors who are homebound Monday-Friday

(If you wish to volunteer with this program, call or e-mail (352)  395-9040, eldercare@shands.usl.edu. This program is located at 4026 NW 22nd Drive, Gainesville, FL 32605.

Chore Services: Provide ongoing or one-time chore service to clients.

Grant Proposals: Write grant applications to aquire funds.

Fundraisers: Sponsor a bake sale, car wash, garage sale, or gift wrap station. 

Al’z Place:  Assisting seniors who have Alzheimer’s or  other memory impairment with activities.  Serve lunch.  Al’z Place is open from 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mon-Fri each week.   

Grocery Shopping:  Shop and deliver food to seniors who are homebound. 

Congregate Mealsites:  Interact and assist seniors with education, exercise, and art programs.  Serve food.  Provide entertainment like playing the piano or singing.  Start a class featuring a special skill or talent you have.

Publicity: Help to publicize Eldercare in the community. 

Telephone Calls:  Call seniors each day at a certain time to check on how they are doing.
