Who they are: The Food Baskets for
Schools Program is run by the University of Florida’s
Center for Leadership and Service. They provide
baskets of food for lower-income school children to
consume during winter break. Many families depend
on the public school system to supply breakfast and lunch
for their children during the school days. When
school is out for a few weeks during winter break, this
often puts a financial strain and burden on the families
to provide those additional meals each
day.
What YOU can do to help: There are
two programs you can help with: Food Baskets for Schools
or Food Bags for Transient Families. Volunteers are
needed to put together baskets and bags to donate.
Once completed, these baskets and bags can be dropped off
at the Center for Leadership and Service at 202 Peabody
Hall or 1725 SE 1st Ave. (call before
coming).
